You might possibly be wondering why you’ve visited this BLOG.  Hopefully, you already read the about me page and have a better idea of what this site is about.  Either way, please read on so you can get started…

If you want to find free samples in your mailbox everyday or if you refuse to pay full retail when you don’t have to, then you’ve come to the right place.   Stick with me and I’ll get you through any major shopping season without breaking the bank!  You’ll notice that not only do I post up freebies but I also post up any great sale that I can find that is 50% off or better.   Using my frugal shopping methods you’ll be ahead of the game!

Here are some of my best tips:

#1)  The best tip I can ever give you is to shop early.  I post up so many deals all year long, so if you see one that you know someone will love, nab it for them early and store it for Christmas or a birthday!  Do your kids get invited to many birthday parties throughout the year?  Keep a supply on hand so you’re never without, and you’ll never have to do last minute shopping again!

#2)  Don’t sacrafice quality for price.  If I post a sale up, it needs to be 50% off or better, and it will be something that I think you guys would like.  I hate to admit it, but I am somewhat of a name brand snob, not on everything, but I do believe in quality.  Ideally, the better the quality, the longer it will last which is frugality in another form.  So if I can get something that is high end or name brand for a price that is better than what I would pay for a cheaper item price, I’m thrilled!

#3)  Don’t underestimate used items.  Whether it’s clothing, cars, furniture, etc.  This kind of goes along with tip #2.  I adore Gymboree clothes for my kids…I’m seriously addicted, lol.  However, I will never pay full retail for it.  In fact, I usually buy used Gymboree (among other brands) for my kids at a fraction of retail!  This goes for so much more than clothes.  I have a used 2005 Ford Excursion that we bought for only $2,000!  No joke!  It has leather seats, 4 tv’s and a dvd player.  We had to put new tires on it, and get an alignment, but other than that it’s in great condition.  The Ford dealer told us that they’ve never seen an engine in such great shape!  Yes, luck has a lot to do with it, but that brings me to the next tip.

#4)  Keep your eyes open!  Very important.  There are deals all around us, all the time.  But we miss them because we’re not looking for them.  I think because I’ve had to be frugal pretty much my whole life, that my deal radar is fine tuned.  I find deals left and right…they practically find me, lol.  If you’re looking for a particular item, don’t just look in Craigslist, the Pennysaver, or the Recycler, and give up because they don’t have the one you want.  Keep looking daily.  It may take weeks, or even months, but if you’re like me and refuse to pay retail, it’s worth the wait when it finally does pop up!  We went without a refrigerator for about 6 months (we had our ugly one in the garage at least), but we couldn’t even afford a decent used one.  Our radar was up and when we heard through the grapevine that someone was throwing a built in GE Monogram fridge away because it wasn’t working, we jumped on it.  We measured it and it fit perfectly in our built in spot!  We paid $100 for it, discovered the problem, ordered the $100 part, and viola!  A fabulous high end working fridge for only $200!  It was kept super clean and beautiful too!  It’s things like this that make me think there just might be something to The Secret, lol!

I have so many other tips, but I’ll save that for another time.  Right now just keep an eye on my blog daily (if not hourly) and you’ll do just fine.  If you haven’t done so already, check out some of my most popular pages:
